Hello

A personal site, in my own words

I’m Chris Linteris, and this is where I write about the things I enjoy outside of work. I live in West Palm Beach with my family. I like playing records start to finish, getting a workout in before the day starts, a good road trip, and a slow Saturday morning by the water.

By profession I’m a commercial banker. I started as a part-time teller at Commerce Bank (later TD Bank), trained as a commercial lender, spent five years as a chief financial officer, and today work in commercial and industrial lending in Florida. A few essays from that side of my life are here too. Personal finance and financial independence get their own home at Bank on FI.

Essays from a banking career

  1. The Loan Is the Last Step

Why I think of commercial lending as an understanding of a business first and a credit product second.

  2. Building a C&I Team from a Standing Start

What being a bank’s first dedicated commercial and industrial lender taught me about building a lending team.

  3. What the Teller Line Taught Me About Leadership

Lessons from a banking career that started part time behind the counter, for anyone early in theirs.

A book, slowly

I’m writing toward a book, working title Everyday Millionaire, about lessons from the businesses and people I’ve known. It is early. Notes on the project live at linteris.com.
